Children’s Museum at La Habra

Visit Children’s Museum La Habra on the next “Target Free First Sundays” on Sunday September 7, 2014 from 1 pm – 5pm.

A total of 500 people are admitted on Target free Sundays and wristbands for both sessions are distributed at 1pm. Wristbands are on a first come first served basis. There is no museum admittance once all wristbands are distributed, Museum Members excluded. Session times are 1-2:45pm and 3:15-5pm. Please plan accordingly.

 Latin Rhythms, go on a musical journey through Latin America. Indigenous people of these areas are known to imitate the sounds of nature in their music and use their natural resources to craft their instruments. Play a gourd drum, learn vibrant dances and create colorful dance masks!

The Museum features 7 galleries and 14 different hands on exhibits, many of which remain unique to the field today. In addition to these exhibits, an outdoor dinosaur topiary and historic 1942 caboose, the Museum features an exhibit which changes 3 times a year.


 

Nature Walk
Visit with “real” wild animals as children are able to explore through their senses as they see, touch and hear taxidermy mounts from Africa, the Pacific Northwest and our own Southern California wildlife zones. The Grotto holds our LIVE animal exhibit.


Nannies Travels
Enter Nannie’s cozy living room and share cultural stories, art, clothing and customs from a lifetime of travel to Russia, Asia and the Middle East.


Model Train Village
Children and adults can enjoy a charming model train display which features electric model trains and an ever-changing miniature village, plus interactive wall units about local history and trains. Press the buttons and see what happens!


Carousel Room
Ride our authentic, hand-carved Dentzel Carousel (ages 5 and under), or shop for healthy foods in our Mini-Market – don’t forget to check out at the Register! Pretend to ride home in Buster, our REAL O.C.T.A. bus, with you in the driver’s seat.

The Caboose
Scheduled Guided Tours of our historic 1942 Caboose, featuring a restored interior, railroad artifacts and local history. “All Aboard” for a fascinating visit with a time gone by.


Science Station

Visit the Sciences from Paleontology to Green Living! Uncover dinosaur fossils at the Dig Site; discover the amazing properties of water at Clear Water Mountain; explore phosphorescence in the Shadow Box; learn about environmental choices in the Green and Clean Energy Station and Clubhouse H2O. Now thru the end of October 2014 visit the Southern California Gas Company Advanced Meter exhibit.  Learn how you can conserve energy at home!  Learn more here>


Kids On Stage
Dress up in costume then debut on stage in our super-fun Theater Gallery! Lighting, sound effects, costumes, scripts and a microphone help to make you a star!


Pre-school Playpark
A playful Gallery for ages five and under! Plenty of storybooks, puppet play, toys, building blocks and a play-house area just for little kids (and their parents!).


Family Art Center
Unleash your creativity with daily art activities for the entire family!

Little Picassos- Open Studio
Wednesdays 11am-3pm
Free with paid admission
Make a “paint” date every Wednesday at the Museum for lots of messy time exploring color and texture! There are easels, washable paints, brushes and paint smocks ready for little artists to use. *This is a drop in art studio and subject to change.
