Inside the kitchen, much more is going on than pouring and mixing – it’s science at work! Our holiday festival is filled with great hands-on activities designed to bring families together this holiday season. Plus, check out award-winning Gingerbread Competition entries displayed throughout the Cube!

  • Meet Santa and take your photo with him (dates TBA)
  • Build and race your own candy car in the Gingerbread Derby
  • Decorate holiday cookies and eat them too!

Science Saturdays- Garden Grove Regional Library

Mark your Calendars to join in on Science Saturdays this Fall. These fascinating science experiment days with your family will be held on select Saturdays. Get ready to do a science experiments together and talk about a science ideas.

Wonderful science books will be on display (pick out some good books and read fact books as a family).  The experiments will be geared to students in grades K-3.

Make this school year your science thinking year! These FREE events are held at Garden Grove Regional Library, located at 11200 Stanford Ave., Garden Grove, CA, from 11:00-11:30 am on November 8, 2014  and December 6, 2014

Silly Science Show

The Mariners Branch Library in Newport Beach is hosting a Silly Science Show. The Professor brings fun to the learning of basic science principles in a silly (educational) interactive way.

The principles covered in this show include; solids, liquids & gas – energy, motion & force, weight & gravity – volume & compress and to develop a theory with experimentation followed with a conclusion.

Build and Grow – Science Lab

I usually don’t post these but Lowe’s has a FREE Kids Build and Grow session every month, when I saw the picture of November’s Build and Grow,  I had to post it. It’s a mini Science Lab that comes complete with experiment cards, I know my girls will love this!

You must register online. The Science Lab – Build and Grow session is scheduled will take place on Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 10:00 – 11: 00 a.m. at your local Lowe’s.

Creepy Crawlies and Night Creatures

Tomorrow, October 26th  from 10:00 am.m – 4:00 p.m., come and explore the world of nocturnal animals and 8 legged insects at the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve .

FREE activities in the Muth Interpretive Center classroom once a month, each with a different educational theme to explore.  The activities are self-guided and may include hands on exhibits, outside hikes, crafts and more.  Then join Preserve staff for storytime at 11am and 2pm.  Recommended for ages 3-12.
