Weekends: November 22 through December 21, 2014 open 10am-6pm

The festival grounds will be transformed into a winter wonderland where 175 artists create, display and sell original creations over the course of four weekends. The Winter Fantasy offers the most unique holiday shopping in all of Southern California. Art media includes jewelry, clothing, fused and blown glass, ceramics, woodwork, forged metals, painting, photography, sculpture, clothing and textiles.

Experience unique artwork by 175 artists, live holiday entertainment, great outdoor cafes, art classes and demonstrations, petting zoo, Santa and much, much more! With amazing art gifts, thousands of holiday decorations and picture-perfect moments, the Sawdust’s Winter Fantasy will become your family’s holiday tradition.

Sea Scare at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

Sea-Scare-2013“SEA SCARE,” San Pedro’s Best Family Halloween Party is back! On Saturday, October 25, 2014, see Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in a different light as it is transformed into an underwater world of chills, thrills and gills. Come in costume and join in the masquerade of ghouls and goblins, trick-or-treat throughout the aquarium, enjoy spooky entertainment and oceans of fun!

Visit the Aquarium’s Aquatic Nursery for a special treasure hunt, scary sea creature feedings, make your own slime and learn what ocean animals use slime to survive. Stop by the Exploration Center for some treats, participate in bioluminescent crafts and learn about deep-sea creatures that lurk in our oceans. Enter the Marine Research Library for some creepy creations and spooky stories. Don’t forget to enter the costume contest for your chance to win some spook-tacular prizes.*

Take a journey to our old haunted boardwalk and try your luck at our carnival-style games of chance or have your fortune read. Then dance the night away in our newly-themed “Sea Scare Party Zone,” with a live DJ and fun games.

Kids of all ages can participate in activities at the Craft Corner such as spooky cookie decorating, slime making, trick-or-treat bag decorating, mask making, plus much more! With apparitional activities, creepy crafts, dreadful demonstrations and eerie entertainment, SEA SCARE 2014 is sure to be a frightfully good time for the whole family!

On October 21, 2014, people across the country will unite in big cities, small towns, and everywhere in between to read the children’s book Bunny Cakes, by bestselling author and illustrator, Rosemary Wells.

Each year, Read for the Record comes alive thanks to countless reading events in schools, libraries, offices, and homes across the country. We want to help make your reading event the best one yet. On this page you’ll find everything you need to celebrate Read for the Record in your community.


In Orange County there will be two special Read for the Record Events.

Think Together Early Literacy Program will host events  on October 21, 2014 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. and another from 1:30 -3:30 p.m. at Veeh Elementary located at 1701 San Juan Street, Tustin, CA 92780. There will be crafts and fun activities to go along with storytime. This event is FREE and open to the public.

  • Bunny Cakes Recipe: Children will learn about recipes and the different ways that food can be prepared. Adults work with children to write their very own recipe.
  • Grocery Store: Throughout the story, Max is sent back and forth to the grocery store for a variety of items, such as eggs, milk, and flour. Children can create their own store and practice shopping for items they would like to use.
